Mr Plow

The Greatest Christmas Ever Seen/Away In A Manger

Release Date Monday 1st December 2014

Mr Plow, the UK Americana songwriter with a reputation for songs that detail the darker side of life, is aiming to help the less fortunate with a charity single that tells some uncomfortable truths about the festive season.

Christmas, despite what popular culture and song would tell us, can be anything but festive for the less fortunate in society, with extra financial pressures leading to an absence of good cheer.

Mr Plow’s new song, ‘The Greatest Christmas Ever Seen’, reminds us how these frustrations can spill over, and the sad consequences that follow, as fictitious couple Sally and Steve travel down this sad, yet well-worn path.

All profits from the release of ‘The Greatest Christmas Ever Seen’ will be donated to Refuge, a charity that supports victims of domestic abuse in the United Kingdom.

Since their first release in 2008, Mr Plow and his band have gained overwhelmingly positive reviews for their records and live shows. The Sunday Times proclaiming ‘Leicestershire’s own Man in Black’. They’ve recorded in session for BBC Radio 2 and been heralded amongst the best in UK Americana.

For the recording of ‘The Greatest Christmas Ever Seen’ Mr Plow is joined on guest vocals by Gabi Monk of award winning UK Americana band ‘The Good Intentions’. On the flipside is a gentle version of Away In A Manger, featuring soul diva Sarah Bird on guest vocals. The songs will be available to download from all usual sites, with the vinyl on sale at selected record shops and via http://www.mrplowsplace.co.uk.

In the meantime we’re playing at The Apple Tree, Clerkenwell this coming Sunday (26th October) at the legendary ‘Come Down & Meet The Folks’. Jumpin’ Jon Shacklock will be joining us on pedal steel. Woo hoo!

Doing it For The Baby Jesus

Not content with hauling ass around the country over the next few months, we’re also gearing up for the festive season. All artwork and test pressings have been approved for the Mr Plow ‘Christmas’ record. Yes, you read that correctly. It should be out in plenty of time to add some Yuletide magic to one and all.
